When Alison F Bell contacted me to see if I could help her create a website to suit her ‘new identity’ I was excited to give it a go.

Alison is not only a textile artist, who makes beautiful constructed textile and collage works, but is also undertaking a practice-based PhD at the University of the West of Scotland, examining how ‘artistic ways of knowing impact on the ageing process‘.

Her website needed to focus on her writing as well as her making and so I created a site with a quiet home page, strong gallery pages with both images and videos, and a blog that Alison can update herself to reflect her research progress.

Alison said:

‘I needed to create a new look and feel to my website, one which would reflect my evolving creative practice as an artist and researcher; I wanted a clean, reflective appearance as the images themselves are complex.

Julia worked with my ideas and together we have come up with what I think is a great website. I’m delighted. The feedback I’m getting from friends and colleagues echoes this.

Very pleased and very grateful. Thanks Julia!’

Following a little extra technical support after launch, Alison has now successfully added a video to her site and posted her first blog post ‘On writing’. Good work Alison!
