SELECTED EDUCATIONAL WORK EXPERIENCE
A cross-generational project I organised as part of an artist residency. Working with the local knitting group and children from P4 – P7 in Helmsdale Primary School on the development and creation of a work for my exhibition Close-Knit.
02-03/2010 Pennypit Special Needs Youth Club, Prestonpans, East Lothian
Devising and running 6 workshops with 2 groups of young people, with additional support needs, to create artworks to be entered into a competition for the 3 Harbours Seafood Festival poster design. The competition was won by one member of the group despite facing competition from 60 other entries.
08/2007 – 07/2009 Fab Pad, Impact Arts, Wester Hailes and Craigmillar, Edinburgh
Working with vulnerable people on a youth housing project when they start a new tenancy, helping them develop ideas and learn the skills to turn their new flat or house into their home and help them into employment

A cross generational project with 60+ women from the Ways of Seeing Group and teenagers from Granton Youth Centre. Creating works of textile art, inspired by cultural visits. The work was exhibited in the Opt in for Art Exhibition in the Fruitmarket Gallery

Devising and running a tour of the exhibition with activities and a felt making workshop in Kaimes Special School with P7 and Longstone Primary School with P6

An exploration through drawing and text of the exhibitions: Laura Ford, Armour Boys and Lost Children followed by a casting workshop in Preston Street Primary School. The resulting work was exhibited in the RSA

Workshops and drop in family sessions for all ages, including: felt making, bookbinding and costume making. One project, Interpretations, involved working with primary children. Each group chose a painting and worked with myself, a poet or a musician to develop and devise a performance.
