The large-scale print of a shirt with the buttons stretched to bursting point was inspired by the word ‘tension’.

A stripe of text behind the garment (which can’t be seen in this rather bad photograph of the artwork I’m afraid to say) describes the constraints of certain fashions and fastening.

Awarded the N.S. MacFarlane Charitable Trust Award at the Royal Glasgow Institute in 1998
