Lately I have had the pleasure of working with a couple of non-creative companies.
‘But I thought you said you only worked on artist’s websites?’
NO, I love to work on all websites where the clients have great images as the main focus of their site… and this was definitely the case with Netherraw Forrestry Ltd. (who grow and sell Christmas trees in the Scottish Borders) and Vivre in France (who run French language & cooking courses in South West France).
Netherraw Forestry Ltd. were a real pleasure to design for as, not only was the Director, Nicolai Olesen, a lovely bloke with clear ideas on his likes and dislikes of web design, plus a clear focus on who the site was aimed at (wholesale clients) but also because he had a load of brilliant photographs and videos of their trees and forest, taken by professional photographer Tony Marsh (who’s website I also designed a few years ago by the way!). These really helped the site look inviting, unique and attractive.

Eleanor Maxwell of Vivre in France has become a good friend since we moved to France and so I was delighted when she asked me to design a website to promote her French language and cooking workshops as well as her Gite. Of course she had loads of great images of the region: the landscape, markets and her beautiful home of course. She also had some great shots of her collection of blue and white crockery, which offered the inspiration for the colour scheme.
We all agree that she could improve on her photographs of her workshops though and so, photographer (and my husband) Colin Usher and I will be attending a workshop this week and we hope that Colin will be able to work his magic and provide some shots for her to add to her site after the event.
A good website is one which grows and develops alongside the business. It should never be considered as FINISHED!
